PRESS RELEASE
On Friday, October 3, 2025 (10:30–12:00 CET), the Centro Studi Internazionali (CSI), Italian partner of the Westminster Alliance for Ukraine (WA4U), will host a high-level debate in Rome on “The Present and the Future of Ukraine – The Role of the Coalition of the Willing in Supporting Ukraine and the Post-Conflict Transition.”
Organized with the support of the Adenauer Foundation and the magazine Europa 2028, the event will bring together parliamentarians, institutional representatives, academics, security and international relations experts, and stakeholders from the energy, defense, and technology sectors, alongside journalists from across Europe.
Launched last May in the UK House of Commons, the Westminster Alliance for Ukraine is a transnational inter-parliamentary initiative aimed at strengthening political and public support for the Coalition of the Willing, promoted by UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, with the participation of 31 countries, including Italy.
Focusing on the E5 countries – France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and the United Kingdom – WA4U facilitates dialogue among parliamentarians, civil society, experts, and political representatives from Kyiv through regular meetings across European capitals.
What to Expect
The Rome debate will open with remarks from Roger Casale, Coordinator of the Westminster Alliance; Jabir Deralla, head of CIVIL – Center for Freedom; and Prof. Antonio Virgili, President of CSI.
Two thematic panels will follow. The first will examine the role of the Coalition of the Willing in supporting Ukraine during the conflict, with contributions from parliamentarians and experts from Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, and beyond. The second will focus on the social, political, and economic dimensions of Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction, featuring interventions from Ukrainian and European MPs, government officials, and international security experts. The event will conclude with reflections from Emanuele Errichiello, Deputy Director of CSI, and will be moderated by Gennaro Migliore, former MP and Undersecretary of State of Italy.
